A CHILDREN’S community nurse has received a top award.
Christine Morris, based at Crawley Hospital, has won the Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother Award for outstanding contribution to community nursing.
The award recognises her pivotal role in creating and developing the children’s community nursing service in Crawley, East Grinstead, Horsham and Mid Sussex.
Christine, who works for the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, was one of the founders of the service in 1997 when it was set up as one of the first of its type in the country.
The award for outstanding service is given to community nurses who provide exceptional care to their patients and demonstrate a continuing passion and enthusiasm for nursing.
Christine said: “I was surprised and elated to be nominated.
“It meant so much to receive my certificate from The Queen.”
