A YOUNG singer has released her debut single at the aged of 14 – and has even managed to get an up-and-coming rap trio to feature on it.

Pot of Gold is the first song released by Isabelle Brown, who was born and bred in Brighton. It is now available online.

The teenager’s song tells a story about fulfilling your potential and doing everything you can to the best of your ability.

Isabelle’s management team said that she has developed a furious ambition to just “get on with it” and work hard towards her goal of becoming a musician.

Isabelle is something of an old soul trapped in the body of a teenager – she takes her inspiration from the soulful sounds of Nina Simone and Tina Turner, with a style that blends old-school R and B with jazz and hip-hop influences found in releases by A Tribe Called Quest.

Pot of Gold sees her put a contemporary twist on these classic sounds and styles.

The refreshing results of the song – written when she was just 13 – suggest a songwriter and vocalist with talent evident at a young age.

An ambitious email introduction through a friend to Arizona rap trio Injury Reserve led to the rising stars taking to the studio to record for the track too.

Injury Reserve were interested in working on it after they heard the demo.

Isabelle was brought up between two creative households due to her parents being separated when she was young.

Her voice slowly began to draw on her own experiences, leading to her writing her first love song at the age of seven.

She said: “Which when you think back is an absolute laugh, as I’d never even kissed a boy but thought I was the number one romance guru.”

She has spent the last couple of years singing, writing, performing or recording every weekend or school holiday that she can.

A debut project, combining a selection of her early recordings, is expected to be released next year.
