DOGS descended on Hove Park for their very own Howl-o-Ween.

The four-legged creatures and their owners took part in a best dog in a Halloween costume competition, making for quite a spectacle.

Dane Bickers, 33, of Hove Park, dressed as Jack Sparrow with his pug Kyloe dolled up a his pirate pug partner in crime.

French bulldog Dexter the Dude looked adorable in his monster outfit, and Boston terrier Betsie looked smashing as a pumpkin.

Owner Lulu Whitmore, 45, of Portsmouth said: “We love Halloween and we love dogs, so it is the best combination we could go for. It’s brilliant, it is a great idea and it’s lovely event.

“The dogs love dressing up. They seem quite keen on doing it, and seem quite excite when their outfits come out.

“Dexter is dressed like the cookie monster so he looks really cute.”

The Howl-o-Ween Festival, on Saturday, also saw an attempted at the Guinness World Record for the most dogs in bandanas.

Organisers are still waiting for confirmation of whether they had broken the record.
