THE Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is ready to raise hundreds of pounds for The Argus Appeal on its first day.

The company responsible for the ice rink in the grounds of Brighton’s Royal Pavilion is donating funds from the first skating session to our charity.

The generous gesture come as the appeal celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Skaters will be able to get on the ice from 10am to 11am on Saturday, November 4, and help the appeal at the same time.

Shella Parkin, managing director of Laine Ltd, the company behind the rink, said: “This is our Christmas present to The Argus Appeal, which is celebrating its 60th year of supporting local charities and won The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service this year.

“We are delighted to be able to contribute to their work by giving all proceeds from the session to the appeal.”

Non-skaters are also welcome to go along and support the appeal on the day and soak up the festive atmosphere. There is no charge for spectating from the rinkside bar and kitchen or on the 40-metre terrace next to the ice.

The Argus editor Arron Hendy said: “This is a very generous gesture from the team at the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink.

“I encourage everyone to get their skates on and head down to that first skating session on the opening day on Saturday, November 4, and raise money for The Argus Appeal at the same time.”

Tickets cost from £10 for those aged 12 and over, £7 for juniors (under 12) and the one-hour skate times run from 10am to 9.15pm daily.
