A COFFEE morning held at BMI Goring Hall Hospital by Hill Barn Ladies Golf Club raised £1,000 for The Alzheimer’s Society.

The event was held in the hospital’s imaging centre which has recently installed a new digital x-ray facility.

It was organised by Hill Barn’s current Lady Captain and BMI Goring Hall Hospital’s infection prevention lead nurse Carrie Belcher.

Executive director Nichola Evans and director of clinical services Gary McHardy supported the event along with many of the Hill Barn Ladies.

Carrie Belcher said: “The hospital felt like it was buzzing that morning.

“The golf ladies made some lovely cakes which they sold for charity, while our own hospital chef Neil made a large cake which Nicky and Gary took to the visitors, staff and patients for donations on the day.

“The children enjoyed games in our courtyard, there was a lucky dip and a really fun experience for everyone.”

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia.

The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that can include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language.

Hospital executive director Nichola Evans said: “It was pertinent that the event took place in our imaging department, as our CT and MRI scanning equipment is used by Consultants to diagnose a range of brain conditions, including diseases like Alzheimer’s. We are proud to have hosted a great event and enjoyed working with the Hill Barn Ladies Golf club to raise awareness for a great cause.”

Local businesses, charity supporters and the gold club members donated raffle prizes for the event which, with the sale of refreshments, raised £1,000 for The Alzheimer’s Society.

The imaging department has also created a directory of services and a video on the BMI Goring Hall website: https://www.bmihealthcare.co.uk/hospitals/bmi-goring-hall-hospital/imaging-and-radiology
