A TEENAGE girl has been airlifted to hospital after being knocked down by a truck.
Emergency services were called to the A259 Brighton Road in Shoreham between Saltings Roundabout and the High Street at about 1.21pm
A pedestrian, a girl believed to be in her teens, has been taken to St Georges Hospital in London by air ambulance.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Ambulance crews, including a Critical Care Paramedic, attended the scene along with the air ambulance service.
"The female pedestrian was treated at the scene before being airlifted to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, with serious injuries."
A section of the road was closed in both directions for three hours while emergency services were on the scene and investigation work took place.
Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes.
Stagecoach 700 services and Compass Travel buses were diverted.
