DETECTIVES have closed a murder investigation launched a 93-year-old man fell to his death from a block of flats.

Sven Legnelius was found dead at 9am on Monday, March 13, after falling from a balcony in Marine Court at the St Leonards marina.

Police started to investigate under the code name Operation Boundary and appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

A 54-year-old man was originally arrested on suspicion of his murder and released on bail until May 10. But yesterday Sussex Police announced no further action would be taken against him.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Ashcroft said the death was no longer being treated as suspicious.

He said: “We have undertaken a thorough investigation and although the final moments that led to his death cannot be totally established, there is no evidence of anyone else involved in Mr Legnelius’s death.

“The family of Sven have been updated and we continue to support them after what has been a tragic time.

“We will now give all the information and continue to assist the coroner Alan Craze with his investigation.

“We would like to thank all who provided information about this very sad incident.”
