A NEW gym has opened on a site which was previously a car showroom.
Tony Stitt Fitness has transformed what was once the Frosts site in Brighton Road, Shoreham.
It has received rave reviews fitness fanatics since its launch and has become a beacon of excellence for .
The gym is the manifestation of an ambitious idea thought up by a businessman who also owns the popular restaurant Carats Café bar in Basin Road South, Southwick Beach.
Owner Chris Kraszewski said that Tony Stitt, an ex-professional footballer from Worthing, has been his personal trainer for the past 10 years.
He recognised the potential in Tony’s ability and the need for a new training and therapy suite in the heart of Shoreham.
He said: “This is a great opportunity for Tony to show the skills he has mastered over the past 20 with his clients but on a much larger scale.
“The one thing I wanted in the gym is that every member that comes through the door feels valued.
“There is no membership contract.
“If you want to sign up you can but there’s no pressure.
“It’s all about looking after the members who come through the door.”
Mr Stitt has played American football in Amsterdam and in the US but he also played for local side B42 until devoting his time to personal training.
He said: “To be honest it’s been a long-held dream of mine.
“Since we opened in January I have been overwhelmed with the response from the people of Shoreham.
“Now the pressure on us is to continue to deliver.
“I was delighted when a member said to me today that TSF gym is something Shoreham really needed.
“I relayed that positive message back to our team of trainers and therapists, as the TSF gym is definitely a team effort,” he said.
Mr Kraszewski has put a lot of investment into the gym and has put a huge amount of focus on the TechnoGym partnership.
TechnoGym is a well-known multi-national company promoting wellness through exercise equipment.
Mr Stitt said: “Our gym is different.
“It is down to the inclusive ethic, personal approach and amazing equipment.
“Technogym equipment is by far superior to ordinary gym equipment.
“It’s the best on the market.”
