MORE than 30 members of a Sussex family gathered outside their firm’s offices to unveil a plaque in honour of one of their relatives.

The team from Local Fuels PLC at Shoreham Port placed the plaque on the Sussex Hospices Trail in memory of Yvonne Harvey.

Her daughter Judy Salvidge said: “She was the most wonderful and inspiring person. Not only was she the mother of eight children, and grandmother to 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren but she was a great inspiration to our business which we started here 40 years ago.”

The plaque is on the Shoreham to Brighton section of the 200-mile walking trail which has being developed by the Friends of Sussex Hospices to raise awareness of all 12 providers of hospice care in Sussex.

Friends chairwoman Kathy Gore said: “It’s a permanent legacy of our charity to celebrate its 21st year and links the hospice areas in Sussex.

“Our aim is that the trail will be used for fundraising events or just enjoyed by walkers, who may be remembering a friend or family member they hold dear.”

The walks all use existing footpaths and each one starts and ends at a public transport point.

Twenty of the walks, between Chichester and Battle, have been published, with the rest ready by the end of October.
