A MAN robbed a newsagents with a handgun but dropped the cash till on the street outside.

A man with a hood pulled up over his head and wearing a baseball cap stole a cash float from a Worthing newsagents early this morning.

The man went into Broadway News and Gifts in The Broadway just after 5.30am and threatened the shop assistant who handed over the float.

As he left the shop, the robber dropped the cash till tray outside the front door and ran eastwards along the Brighton Road.

The suspect is described as being around 5' 10" to 6', of slim build, dark-skinned and in his early 20s.

During the robbery he was wearing a black hooded top with the hood pulled up over his face and the front of his top pulled up covering his face with a black baseball cap.

Detective Sergeant Simon Dunn said: "The man was carrying a black handgun and we are looking at two other recent armed robberies in the town to see if there are links.

“If you saw anything, no matter how insignificant you think that might be, please let us know.”
