A TEENAGER has been sent to prison after stabbing a football player.

Joshua Baldwin, 18, stabbed the Alliance Football Club player in the neck after players confronted him and other youths about items missing from their lockers.

It happened in woodland behind Langley Green football club at around 2.20pm on Saturday, October 24, following a match.

Baldwin, 18, of Stafford Road, Crawley, pleaded guilty in April 2016 to grievous bodily harm.

He has been sent to prison for three-and-a-half years.

Detective Sergeant Karrie Bohanna said: "Baldwin's actions were violent and completely uncalled for.

"His behaviour was totally unacceptable and he has been punished as such. Thankfully the victim, despite needing hospital treatment, is recovering well.”
