FOUR beach huts up for the title of being Britain's best have missed out on the crown.
The competition run by insurers Towergate for the best hut of 2016 had a prize of £1,000 and a year’s free beach hut insurance for the winner along with a commemorative plaque.
A total of four Sussex entries were in the top-ten across the country. They were The Boho Hut on Hove Esplanade, made up in a bespoke arty style and Buggleskelly, Glyne Gap, made to look like a vintage Southern region train station, as well as Hut 279 in Hove and Number 14 in Bexhill.
Property guru Phil Spencer visited the winning hut, My Happy Hut in Dovercourt, Harwich, Essex.
Beach hut owners from across the nation’s favourite seaside towns and beaches submitted entries, each vying to be crowned winner of Beach Hut of the Year 2016. My Happy Hut was chosen by the judges for its vibrancy, style and effort.
