A LORRY was teetering on the brink earlier today after parking up on a grass verge.
This picture shows the seven-and-a-half-ton delivery vehicle in Stephens Road, Brighton, this afternoon after emergency services arrived.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue was called just after 4.30pm.
One crew from Brighton and another from Lewes were sent to deal with the precariously-parked lorry, reminiscent of the closing scene of the film The Italian Job, where a coach is lurching over a precipice.
Giles Wright, a resident in the road, said he was surprised someone would park in this position and expressed concern for the flats below.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "We were called 4.33pm to an unstable lorry on a bank.
"We sent along one fire engine. When they got there they requested our technical rescue unit from Lewes. The grass verge area was cordoned off and vehicle recovery arrived at 5.20pm."
Police said the vehicle was parked in a precarious position. Officers went to the scene to advise residents of what was being done.
A spokeswoman said no one had been arrested and the vehicle was moved off by 6.30pm.
