A MAN has died after a crash involving a Ford Fiesta and a HGV.

The 37-year-old from St Leonards was driving the silver Ford Fiesta southbound towards Hastings on the A21 when the accident happened at Kent Street, Sedlescombe.

His vehicle collided with with a Volvo Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV), driven northbound by a 39-year-old man from Battle.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta died at the scene. The HGV driver was uninjured.

It happened at about 3.27pm on Friday (August 12).

The road was closed for more than five hours at the junctions of Moat Lane and Blackbrooks Garden Centre while officers from the Roads Policing Unit examined the scene and the vehicles were recovered.

Firefighters, paramedics and the air ambulance were also in attendance.
