A PASSENGER has been killed after a three vehicle crash on the most dangerous road in Britain.

The 91-year-old woman was being driven in a black Mini by a 20-year-old woman from Swindon when the accident occurred on the A285 at Upwaltham, between Petworth and Chichester.

The woman, from Petworth, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

The two other vehicles involved were a white Ford Transit van, driven by a 47-year-old man from Bognor, and a grey Audi Q3 driven by 36-year-old man, also from Bognor.

All three drivers sustained minor injuries. 

Emergency services closed the road for more than four hours while the scene was investigated following the crash at 2.49pm on Thursday (August 11).

The A285 between Petworth and Chichester topped of a list the most persistently dangerous roads in a report by the Road Safety Foundation.
