WITH the athletics kicking off on Friday, our track and field Olympians have been making their way to Rio over the last few days.

Brighton's 1,500m star Charlie Grice got the real first class treatment from British Airways as he was invited into the cockpit ahead of take off.

He posed alongside Team GB race walker Dominic King for this photo which he posted to his 7,000 Twitter followers.

Grice is now at the Team GB holding camp in Belo Horizonte before he travels to Rio later in the week.

Meanwhile Horsham discus star Jade Lally has been hanging out with some of the biggest stars in the Team GB athletics squad.

She was alongside the likes of heptathlon gold medal hope Katarina Johnson-Thompson as Team GB's athletes cheered Adam Peaty on to gold in the pool.

Alongside a video of the winning moment, she posted: "Best bit so far, @TeamGB Adam Peaty winning #Gold #Olympics."

Elsewhere Lewes steeplechaser Rob Mullett helped ease his Twitter followers' fears over the Zika virus by posting his update from South America.

He wrote: "Brazil. 1) friendly people everywhere 2) I still haven't seen a mosquito 3) great holding camp."
