The family of Chris Eubank Junior's stricken opponent Nick Blackwell expect the boxer to wake from his induced coma in the next 48 to 72 hours.

Brighton's Eubank Jr, 26, claimed the British middleweight title on Saturday night after the Trowbridge fighter was stopped in the tenth round.

But Blackwell, 25, was taken to hospital after collapsing in the ring and being given medical attention.

Blackwell suffered a small bleed on the brain which has not required surgery.

BBC boxing correspondent Mike Costello said tonight: "I'm told the vital signs are good and doctors are cautiously optimistic."
