Tea Dances return to the Winter Garden, Eastbourne this spring for afternoons of dance, music, tea and chatter on 26 April and 17 May from 2-5pm.

The tea dances are a great tradition in Eastbourne and the Winter Garden dances are the most established regular dance event in the town offering 3 hours of fun and fitness for all ages.

It’s a great introduction to formal dance for those craving more social dancing and less lone shuffling around a handbag on the dancefloor. Nervous novices can join seasoned tea dancers in a friendly afternoon of traditional waltzes, foxtrots and tangos with a little line dancing thrown in for good measure.

The Winter Garden in Compton Street is a Grade II listed building, designed by architect Henry Currey and built in 1875. The Floral Hall, where all Tea Dances are held, was originally used as a skating rink in winter and concert hall in summer. A venue that is steeped in rich history is the perfect place to dance along to the music of days gone by.

So grab a group of friends or brave it alone, no special attire needed and no experience either! Eastbourne’s tea dancers are looking forward to welcoming all for a bright season of dance and friendly chatter.
