A RECYCLING lorry caught fire this morning.
A crew was called to Brighton Marina just after 9am today.
The vehicle, owned by Brighton and Hove City Council, started belching smoke as its crew were working.
A council spokesman said: “It was spotted in the hopper of the vehicle as the crew finished loading.
"Thanks to the prompt action of the crew and fire service the fire was put out quickly and no-one was hurt.
“The cause has yet to be determined but there was no mechanical fault with the vehicle, which was not damaged and has now resumed normal service.”
A spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was an accidental fire and that firefighters used a hose reel to tackle it.
