I want to express my dissatisfaction with The Streets of Brighton event this year. It lacked the spontaneous feel of previous years.
Everyone was clutching a programme and clockwatching in case they missed something.
Having such a strict timetable does mean the event loses something. Also, as there were fewer events generally, it was harder to see anything.
I heard the event has become a victim of its own success, as in the past it attracted so many visitors the organisers could not deal with them. It would be a shame if the scaling down of the day was due to this - it's always been my favourite day in the year to be in Brighton.

What a washout!
And I don't mean the weather.
The Streets of Brighton is one of the highlights of my year and I always attend on that Friday afternoon, with hundreds of others. Well, we were there, but where were the acts?
Frustrated crowds had to hunt down the entertainment, rather than being surrounded by wonderful street entertainers on all corners. Was this budget cutbacks or poor organisation?
Once again, a wonderful Brighton tradition has apparently been spoilt by over-zealous new organisers, who appeared to have booked more stewards than acts.
