As revealed in The Argus (May 14) Brighton and Hove City Council paid £2.9 million to consultants in 2006: 62 per cent more than in the 2004-05 financial year.
Recently I tried to obtain these figures from the council, but was told that under the Freedom of Information Act they couldn't give them to me.
Perhaps, in future, the new council will ensure it will be open as to how our money is spent.
