If we had a choice, where would we build a new pier in the city?
I respectfully suggest it should not be where the West Pier was built, as I believe the West Pier Trust is planning.
Quite apart from the future of our magnificent rusty island, the change of focus to the west, with the King Alfred development now approved, suggests a new pier should be further in that direction.
With the increasing popularity of our city, Hove must take more of the load. Indeed the west end of our magnificently long shopping street, which starts at Hove Street and ends at Grand Parade, should surely be similarly marked at its other end with a Hove Pier.
This would leave our magnificent rusty island central between the two piers and beneath the i360. As an island it should be left to the elements once "magic" dust has been sprinkled over it to encourage plant growth. The sunken clutter obviously needs to be cleared. Does anyone else share my vision?
