The comments made by a spokesman about gridlocking Brighton if free parking was allowed on bank holidays (The Argus, May 11) is complete rubbish.
The 477 people that were fined that day assumed it was free parking. There was no gridlock then and that was on a public holiday. Brighton is supposedly a tourist city and visitors should be encouraged to come here, not penalised. How many of the people who were fined will come back? Not many, I bet.
Now a new council has been voted in, let them show some common sense and allow free parking on Sundays and bank holidays. They make enough money out of us locals each week and we get nothing back.
