A new £3.5million school could be built in a village to meet the needs of a growing population.
West Sussex County Council has announced a review of primary schools in the Haywards Heath area and is considering a new 210 pupil school in Bolnore as its preferred option.
The eight primaries in Haywards Heath, Lindfield and Cuckfield currently provide enough places for children in the area but the council believes new housing developments could lead to shortages in the next few years.
It has suggested either expanding the existing schools or building a new one and wants residents to share their views.
Copies of a council consultation document can be viewed at http://wsgfl.westsussex.gov.uk and there will be a public meeting at Heyworth Primary School in New England Road, Haywards Heath, on Monday, June 11, at 7pm.
The council said a school for four to 11 year olds could be built in Bolnore by 2010.
