A theatre company from Brighton has won an Argus Angel - the first to be awarded to a Festival Fringe production.
Halcyon Productions earned high praise for its version of Shakespeare's Hamlet at the Marlborough Theatre in Princes Street.
All five performances of the show were sold out last week and a matinee show was also put on to meet demand.
In his review in today's Guide critic, Ben Murray said: "The only problem I have with Max Day's performance of the Dane is to find enough superlatives to describe it."
Large numbers of audience members have also visited our website to nominate the play for an Argus Angel readers' award, putting it in second place.
Max Day, who played the role of Hamlet and also runs Halycon Productions with Jamie Martin, said it was a challenge to produce such an epic play in the tiny 50-seat theatre.
