The truth can really hurt. When I read Adam Trimingham's description of Brighton and Hove Labour councillors as "long in the tooth" (The Argus, May 8). I knew at once he had me in mind.
One look in the mirror confirmed it: wrinkles, greying hair, teeth falling out...
It's hardly surprising I look "old and tired". We've just come through an exhausting election campaign.
Labour candidates in Preston Park, supported by an enthusiastic team of helpers, worked flat out and delivered a stunning result.
We increased Labour's share of the poll, while the Greens' share went down.
There's nothing inevitable about the onward march of the Greens.
We've just proved it.
The former Sage of Sussex is writing Labour off too soon.
- Councillor Kevin Allen, Preston Park ward
