Rock 'n' Roll, pop art, punk rock and burlesque. These styles could all have influenced Lisa Marsh's innovative collection of Brighton-inspired artwork, and with illustrations such as Burlesque At The Beach and Fresh Air Freaks, aspects of life within the seaside town are obviously reflected.
This lifestyle is exaggerated by the artist's muting of bright colours within the illustrations, and use of a cut-and-paste method to create new depth within each individual character. The room in Gulliver's Hotel appeared to be an unlikely venue in which to view the collection but the location worked effectively in creating a quiet, intimate atmosphere.
Marsh manages to bring a variety of different styles seamlessly together in her dreamlike and refreshing work.
