A river will soon be benefiting from a £750,000 environmental scheme.
Southern Water's wastewater treatment works at Nutley, near Uckfield, is being upgraded to ensure water recycled back into Pippingford Brook continues to meet stringent environmental standards.
The treatment works serve 1,020 people and deals with around 245,000 litres of wastewater every day.
Senior contracts engineer Gary Sayers said: "We are delighted to announce this vital scheme has now begun and will soon ensure the water we return to the environment is of the highest quality "Southern Water is investing £1.8 billion across the region in schemes such as this one at Nutley and the investment will help us improve the quality of wastewater which is treated and recycled into rivers and the sea."
Contractors 4Delivery started the work this month and are expected to finish in November.
