In reply to Steve Kennard's letter, I agree money should not be a wasted resource. I would also like to raise a number of questions.
Having observed Roger French's bus passenger loading for 18 months, I would like to ask: 1) Why do most buses travel half full for most of the day? Halve the journeys and the price of fares could drop by 25 to 50 per cent.
2) Why do bus drivers accelerate and brake so hard, to passengers' discomfort? Would driving less aggressively save on fuel bills?
3) Why are many buses putting out black diesel fumes?
4) As the local authority and Government subsidises the fares for the over-60s, why isn't the bus company told to reduce its fares and improve its performance?
