THREE screaming world records will be attempted at a theme park tomorrow.

The loudest scream by a crowd, the longest scream by a crowd, and the loudest individual scream of 129 decibels will all be attempted at Tulleys Farm in Crawley.

Visitors can take part in the challenge from 7pm as part of the theme park's Shocktober series of events.

The record for the loudest scream by a crowd - which needs to reach 127 decibels - is held by a group of scouts from Norway, the longest scream by a crowd - held by a group at Drayton Manor theme since last year - must exceed 80 decibels and be maintained for at least eight minutes and 45 seconds, and the loudest individual scream - which must be 129 decibels - has been held by Jill Drake, who lives in Kent, since 2000.

Mrs Drake will be attending the event to try again for the title, and £1,000 is up for grabs for anyone who can beat her record and set a new one.

Stuart Beare, of Tulleys Scream Park, said: "Thousands of visitors come here each night during the Halloween season to experience the eight haunted house scare attractions and other entertainment, and their screams can be heard across the park. We thought it would be a great ideal to capture those screams and go not just for one but for three world records. Hopefully the lure of the chance to win a £1000 will help people reach their peak scream.”

Tulleys Shocktober Fest is open on selected evenings until November 1.
