I can't be the only one to have noticed the horrific price increase this season for the ride tokens on the Palace Pier.
Last year they were 50p each. This year they have risen 100 per cent to £1 per token.
Unfortunately, the number of tokens required to use a ride appears to have remained the same as last year. You want a go on the Waltzer?
That'll be £3 each thanks (up from the equivalent of £1.50 last year).
Some rides are eight tokens, a mind-melting £8 per ride. I thought the £4 they were charging last year was steep. The reason for this, I assume, is to force you to buy the unlimited ride wristband for £20.
This is sheer exploitation and profiteering by the pier's owners. I'm certainly not going to be heading back in a hurry.
