Architects and builders are being selected to work on a £37 million project to rebuild a school.
East Sussex County Council is looking for contractors to deliver the reconstruction of Bexhill High in Gunters Lane, Bexhill.
Last week parents, teachers, pupils, governors and neighbours met at the school to discuss what they want from the new facility. Their ideas will be put forward to the architects.
Bexhill High principal Mike Conn said the meeting had been extremely positive. He said: "We have seen magnificent enthusiasm and creativity. This is a journey and one which will be exciting for all concerned. As a start this was fantastic."
The government has agreed to fund £33 million of the project as part of its Building Schools For The Future scheme and the remaining £4 million will come from the county council.
Work is set to begin next year and the new Bexhill High is expected to open in September 2010.
The new school will have high quality vocational training facilities as well modern classrooms and equipment for academic education. The buildings will be made available to the community and other schools in the area as well as Bexhill High's own pupils.
