When Thomas Kett began his variety-style performance of silly tales about lost dogs, flooded houses and spooky voices to the handful of children and parents gathered in the tiny yet charming Marlborough Theatre, I initially had my doubts that he could entertain this gaggle of modern youngsters.
But although Kett's seemingly outdated humour initially fell on deaf ears with his audience, a generous helping of daft (if slightly repetitive) sound effects and entertaining physical comedy soon stirred up many happy giggles from the kids, while even the wrinklies managed the odd smirk as well.
Despite my reservations, Thomas Kett proved that today's kids still love a well-told, imaginative and downright silly story or two, with plenty of slapstick thrown in for good measure.
