Police stopped an illegal all-night beach party going ahead over the Bank Holiday weekend.
A member of the public told police they could hear loud music coming from the beach off Climping Street, near Littlehampton, at about 2am this morning.
Up to 30 people had already arrived, with another 30 expected.
Organisers told police they hoped the party would last until 2pm this afternoon.
Officers ordered them to pack up their equipment and leave.
By 3.40am the site had been cleared.
Police in West Sussex operate a Farmwatch scheme to prevent crime in rural areas.
They have urged members of the public and Farmwatch members to contact them if they suspect illegal parties are taking place.
People interested in joining the scheme can contact PC Peter Child of Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 for more information.
