A TEENAGE cyclist was accosted by two men who stole his bag in Greenham.

A 17-year-old boy was cycling from Wash Common via The Nightingales between 4.30pm and 5pm on Monday (28).

As he cycled behind the shops on Austen Road he was stopped by two men who asked him to empty his pockets.

The teenager refused and one of the men grabbed his bag before fleeing the scene.

The bag contained a phone charger, black wallet, keys and Golden Virginia tobacco. The boy was not injured. 

The man who stole the bag is described as white, in his twenties, about 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins and slim.

He was wearing a demin coloured shirt with white buttons and jeans.

The second man is black, in his twenties, about 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins and stocky. He was wearing a grey beanie hat pulled down over his eyebrows, a grey hooded top which had white drawstrings, navy blue jeans and Nike Air Max Air Force trainers. 

Investigating officer, Detective Constable, Clare Larkworthy, of the patrol team based at Newbury police station, said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim, who had his Nike cross body bag containing a phone charger, black wallet, keys and Golden Virginia tobacco stolen. If you have been offered any of these items or have any information about the offence then please contact police by visiting your nearest police station or by calling 101."

A 21-year-old man from West Berkshire has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released on police bail until November 2.
