Two longstanding Labour seats have been lost to Conservatives.
Sue John, deputy leader of the Labour Party in Brighton and Hove, lost her seat in South Portslade to Steve Harmer-Strange.
Les Hamilton, also a longstanding Labour councillor in the same ward, kept his seat.
Labour also lost a seat in North Portslade.
Tory Trevor Alford snatched the seat previously held by Don Turner who stood down before the vote.
Meanwhile Bob Carden, who has been a Labour councillor in North Portslade for several years, kept his position.
