Arguably one of the biggest DJs in the contemporary and mainstream dance scene is bringing his 2007 dance anthems tour to Brighton.
Dave Pearce's Dance Anthems is still one of Radio 1's most popular shows, but it has been a long journey to get his trademark style of uplifting trance and hard dance heard on national radio.
Like most DJs he started on pirate radio in South London while still at school, eventually running his own station at 16 before moving to Bombay, in India to play to an international jetset crowd.
His career with the BBC began on Radio London where he hosted the BBC's first hip-hop show. His work as a pioneer of hip-hop in the UK led to him being featured on Public Enemy's classic album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back.
He moved away from the Beeb to work on GLR and hook up with the then illegal Kiss FM's campaign for a dance station in London.
When Kiss became legal he hosted its drivetime and breakfast shows, which eventually landed him the Radio 1 gig.
"I sort of got into DJing when I was at school really," he says.
"It came out of the love of music more than wanting to be a DJ. So I count myself a bit of an enthusiast.
"I'm quite lucky to be able to do this, I don't claimed to be someone like Carl Cox who has totally amazing skills, but I do know a good tune."
