For the past four years Simon Welsh has thrown a party called the Strawberry Social for his friends.
Inspired by a flamboyant bash in the film To Wong Fu - which follows the fortunes of three drag queens who get stranded in Rednecksville - Welsh decided to put on a similar show for charity.
Over the years the event has snowballed from a tame affair for friends chez Simon in 2003 to this year's all-day party at the King and Queen.
This time the Strawberry Social has joined forces with the people behind popular live break beat night The Beat Circus, hence the name change. Together they plan to raise cash for children's charity International Care and Relief (ICR), who help build schools in Africa and teach children new skills.
The party starts at midday with music from Los Albertos, The Don Bradmans, The Happiness, The Wizard and the Frog, the mighty Wupadupa Soundtank collective and rap group Multifinish.
There is also comedy from Paul McCaffrey and friends, a Jamaican barbeque, market stalls, courtyard musicians and work by graffiti artists.
When the sun starts to set there is music from Soul of Man, BeatCircus residents, Steelzawheelz and Plaza de Funk.
- Advance tickets are available from Rounder Records, Covert and Resident.
Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
