John Stevens complains of the newly introduced deposit schemes for landlords (Letters, April 28).
However, he doesn't mention that these schemes, onerous though they are for most landlords, only apply to those who operate assured shorthold tenancies.
Those landlords who live on the premises are exempt, so I am told by the advice officer of the National Federation of Residential Landlords.
