In response to the article about Drusilla's Zoo trying to recruit a Fat Controller (The Argus, April 27), perhaps they should have asked for people to fill the position of "Sir Topham Hat" (the same character). This, surely, couldn't have upset anyone - unless there is a law against wearing top hats.
For many children, Thomas the Tank Engine would not be the same without the Fat Controller, who is a much-loved character.
It would be a shame to disappoint them just because of political correctness.
