Rumours that Posh and Becks are renewing their wedding vows this summer at an 11th century castle were dismissed today as an "urban myth".
Amberley Castle near Arundel, West Sussex, has been swamped with questions from journalists and fans but castle spokeswoman Louisa Fox said: "Unfortunately, it is one of those stories that has developed a life of its own.
"There is even someone going round saying he has a cheque from the Beckhams who persuaded him to cancel his wedding at the castle because it fell on the day the Beckhams wanted.
"He's telling people the Beckhams have paid for his wedding to be held elsewhere plus his honeymoon and his mortgage."
The location would fit the bill - the Beckhams married at Luttrellstrown Castle on the outskirts of Dublin on July 5, 1999, and Amberley boasts 19 luxury bedrooms, many with four posters and all with Jacuzzi bathrooms.
Ms Fox said: "I wish it was true - the story goes the Beckhams supposedly have invited 500 guests here for the event.
"With that size booking we could take the rest of the year off."
