Generous firefighters are to hold a fund-raising day for an orphan whose mum died in a house fire.
Tyler Macintosh, two, lost his mum Emma Macintosh, 25, during a blaze at her home in Albion Street, Southwick on April 21.
It is thought she fell asleep on the sofa while the fire started and died from smoke inhalation.
Tyler's father also died six months prior to the fire, leaving his grandmother, Jackie to look after him.
Fire crews who attempted to rescue Emma from the fire, which started in her kitchen after a night out, are to now raise money for the tragic tot during a benefit day at Shoreham fire station.
They also want to raise further awareness about the dangers of not having smoke alarms.
Fire fighters believe Miss Macintosh would have escaped the blaze which killed if she had a smoke alarm fitted.
The crews will spend the day, on May 12, promoting fire safety and hope to raise a substantial amount of cash, which will be given to Jackie Macintosh and contribute directly to Tyler's welfare.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "She wants to prevent it happening to someone else."
Emma Macintosh's funeral was held on Wednesday.
