I see in your report congratulating Hove Park School on their positive Ofsted report (The Argus, April 26) that, once again, pupils from COMART and the Whitehawk area come in for condemnation.
Having lived in Whitehawk for the past 17 years, worked in COMART for eight years and had two children attend the school, I would like to remind readers that one of the reasons for the closure of the school was because the majority of the children from the estate did not attend it.
Many of them were already attending Hove Park.
Now pupils from this area attend many of the secondary schools in the Brighton and Hove area and are fairly evenly spread.
I therefore find it hard to believe the few extra pupils who now attend Hove Park can be attributed to the downturn in achievements and have had such a dramatic affect. This seems just another excuse to further put down the residents of Whitehawk yet again.
Please give us all a break, stop the negativity and write in praise of a proud community which only wants to be treated fairly. Stop the Whitehawk bashing.
