Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece will be performed for the first time in the intimate settings of the ostentatious Royal Pavilion.
First commissioned for the Fenice Theatre, Venice, and shown in 1853, this classic opera has been reworked by Musica a Palazzo to be performed in the Italian tradition of Salotto Musicale - intimate chamber opera performed with a select cast, string trio and piano.
Moving from the exquisite banqueting room for the first act to other staterooms and bedrooms for the remaining two, the audience follows the actors as they move around and as the music is played out around them.
Programmer Gill Kay says: "I went to see this production in Italy and never believed it would work. But it does, and it's just lovely."
Join beautiful Violetta, dashing count Alfredo Germont and his stern father on a compelling journey through the sumptuous Pavilion in a magical love affair fraught with tragic inevitability.
