What a story on the front page of The Argus last Friday (April 27). Brighton and Hove City Council has got to rethink the closure of schools on polling day.
There should be nothing more important in our society than educating our kids. Even one day of schooling lost is a crime.
The excuse of the council of having investigated alternatives, but none being suitable and available, is so lame.
Tomorrow, voters in my area will be voting in a hut located on a free patch of ground.
The Army holds thousands of marquees in its storerooms.
So get real, B&HCC - don't disrupt the education of our kids and do a U-turn on this ridiculous decision.

Having read the article regarding school closures, I agree wholeheartedly with the parents.
Who do these buffoons think they are? No one will convince me that there are no alternative venues for voters. Every church hall and every other available hall should be commandeered as required for such important issues. They used to be, so what has changed?
To deny children their education at the expense of some overinflated egotistical politico is beyond belief. I have been a voter since I was 21, in 1965, and I am somewhat dismayed at the present bunch who are asking for our mandate, Tory or Labour.
The others aren't even worth considering, but that is my view.
