In response to Dr David Bull's letter regarding the state of the seafront's bandstand, along with many others (Letters, April 27), as someone who has to see this every day can I point out that:
a) it is Victorian and is only Regency styled.
b) that it is in Brighton, not Hove.
The My Brighton and Hove history website (http:// mybrightonandhove.org.uk) notes that: "The Birdcage' bandstand is a delightful piece of Brighton Corporation architecture. Built in 1884 it served the public in two ways - by providing music to the King's Road level, whilst offering toilet facilities to promenaders on the Western lower esplanade."
I am aware the area is an eyesore with money being spent on a mosaic and sculptures.
Friends of Bedford Square even tried to deal with it, only to be told, "Wait for the lottery money, unless you're a company that wants to take it over."
