A barmaid was left needing stitches after a man hurled a pint glass at her face.
The 21-year-old victim was working at the Beachcomber pub in Dane Road, Seaford, when the attack happened at about 4.30pm on Sunday.
She was taken to hospital where she was given five stitches.
Sergeant David Kemp, of Seaford police, said: "This was a nasty incident and we are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet contacted us to please do so."
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0845 6070999 or go into Seaford police station.
A 57-year-old Seaford male was later arrested in connection with the assault.
