Woodingdean is likely to remain a Conservative ward on May 3.
The two Conservative councillors, Geoff Wells and Dee Simson, have a string of local connections and a 1,500 vote lead on their nearest opponents, Labour.
But Labour have won seats here before and are fielding one of the youngest Labour candidates in the city, 19-year-old Mark Maguire, who wants the library and the community centre improved. Karen Barford is the party's other candidate.
Alan Pegg and Nellie Jones are promoting an environmentally friendly way of life for the Greens.
Joy De Souza and Rosemary Lovatt represent the Lib Dems.
