A survey conducted recently by an agency working in partnership with Christian churches has confirmed that large numbers of people have abandoned religious belief.
So it is appropriate that East Sussex County Council's registration service is offering the public a choice of non-religious funerals (The Argus, April 25).
In fact this service has been provided by the secularist movement for well over a century.
Brighton and Hove Humanist Society continues the tradition.
