Readers of The Argus were stunned after reading our story about a theme park being banned from advertising for a Fat Controller in case it discriminates against thin people.
We reported on Friday that Drusillas Park at Alfriston wants the employee to drive its new Thomas the Tank Engine train.
But managing director Laurence Smith said he was furious when his legal advisors said the park could not discriminate and might have to interview a thin person if one applied for the job.
Mr Smith said: "This is the most crazy of politically correct situations in a world that has gone mad."
Our readers inundated our website to leave comments.
Kathy Robson, from Australia, said: "What a load of codswallop!"
C Cutts, from Lancing, said: "The PC brigade should be squirming with embarrassment. This is the height of PC correctness gone potty. All Thomas the Tank Engine fans old and young know the Fat Controller is fat - they wouldn't know who a thin one was.
"It is time the PC brigade took a very long holiday.
Sue, from Hove, said: "Sadly this is the state of our country. We need to stop this PC stupidity and encourage everyone to grow up and be adult. People are different and different people suit different roles. When will we stop pandering to this stupid baby society - we must be the laughing stock of the world."
Meanwhile Ria, from Hove, said: "How stupid. It's part of the story, not a slight against thin or fat people."
